The Centre for Development Management (CDM) was created, with the understanding that for
government and its partners to reduce poverty of the people, they require development technical assistance to translate
national policy objectives into viable development programmes that not only reduce poverty, but raise the living standards of
people at local level. The CDM was formed and begun its operations in 2002 by
Bright Sibale a sole proprietorship. It got registered in 2003 as Consulting and Learning Facility. Later in 2003, a Partner, by
the Name of Peter Jere joined Bright Sibale and the two have been working together ever since.

CDM, as a private consulting and learning centre offers policy advice, capacity building
and strategic development management services in rural development, gender, natural resources and agriculture. The
Centre was established to support poverty reduction efforts by providing affordable but high quality local technical
assistance in rural development and natural resources sector. The Centre has unparalleled experience
in development research, training and project cycle management. The Centre is composed of well-qualified
nationals who understand the poverty and development situation in Malawi and the SADC Region, with good and traceable experience in
development planning and management.
Over the past 8 years, the CDM has worked with tens of national, regional and international organisations,
some of which include: The Malawi Government, the National AIDS Commission, The Department for International Development (DFID), UNICEF, UNFPA,
UNAIDS, various Government Ministries, Word Vision International, Catholic Development Commission, Plan International, AusAID, LTS International,
International Institute for Environment and Development, CARE Malawi, CARE Rwanda, NEDICO Harare, UNICEF Swaziland, Microfinance Opportunities
(Washington), USAID, ECORY Netherlands and many other organisations.
